The Great Chili Cook Off – MAWT

This slideshow requires JavaScript.

The evening of November 13th 2013 was a dark night and the winds were blowing hard with its breath hinting strongly of the winter season yet to come.  Wind Warriors gathered at the Silverdale Community Hall for the Mothers Against Wind Turbines third fund raising supper for a chili cook off.  The entries for the competition were dominated by the men of MAWT.   Sweet, hot and spicy and in the kitchen.  The stage was set for the competition to begin for the coveted Golden Spoon award for the best chili.

Laughs, smiles and a strong sense of community Wind Warriors gathered and strengthen their resolve to battle the harms and imposition of the Wind developments.  The desert table was filled with all kinds of amazing homemade  baking and the yummy offerings were quickly sampled and devoured by all the dinners.

The evening allowed another opportunity to honour and celebrate the life of Patricia Anne Vaughan, an amazing woman  whose death has taken her far too soon, from her 12 year old son and extended family  The evenings raffle earnings were donated to her family in memory of her strength and spirit Just a few short weeks ago, the beef from Patricia’s farm was an important part of the first Spaghetti supper held and even though she was not able to attend it gave her a chance to continue the battle against the Wind turbines on her on terms

After much eating and socializing the winner of the Mothers Against Wind Turbines for the Golden Spoon was announced.   Joe Correia (senior) was declared the best hottie as his chili was declared the tastiest. The next  MAWT fundraising  and last supper for 2013 will be on November 27th.  Hope you can save the date and to see you there.

Town agrees to reduce operating hours of turbines; Issue far from over as final settlement still must be reached

Credit:  By CHRISTOPHER KAZARIAN | Falmouth Enterprise | November 8, 2013 ~~

Falmouth’s wind turbines will return to their 12hour operation following an agreement reached between neighbors and town officials in Barnstable Superior Court yesterday.

The agreement is tied to Neil P. and Elizabeth Andersen’s claim that the town’s wind turbines constitute a nuisance, which was affirmed by the Falmouth Zoning Board of Appeals in May. The town has since contested that appeals board decision in superior court with initial proceedings held in September and an ensuing one held last month.

Prior to yesterday’s hearing, Falmouth selectmen had decided in a 3-2 vote to increase the operation of the turbines from their 7 AM to 7 PM model to one in which the machines would be operating from 5 AM to 9 PM as a way to generate enough revenue to cover the town’s expenses.

But that changed yesterday when Barnstable Superior Court Judge Christopher J. Muse directed both parties to engage in discussions to determine if there was any agreement on a temporary plan of operation of the turbines while the two sides work toward a final settlement.

Town counsel Frank K. Duffy Jr. and selectman Rebecca Moffitt, representing the town, came to an agreement with the Andersens’ attorney, J. Alexander Watt of Barnstable, and Christopher Senie of Westboro, who is representing several neighbors as parties in the case.

As part of the agreement, the town will also direct building commissioner Eladio R. Gore to devise a plan to eliminate the nuisance. The first step in that plan will be to begin acoustic testing in a variety of conditions, with one turbine running and both running at various times.

J. Malcolm Donald of Blacksmith Shop Road, a vocal opponent of the turbines who attended yesterday’s hearing, lauded the temporary agreement. “I think it was earth shattering that the parties finally, after more than three years of disagreement, actually sat down and talked,” he said. “I think it is kind of a stroke of genius of the judge. This is economical judicial action.”

While progress has been made toward a final resolution, Mr. Senie said nothing has truly been settled. “There really isn’t any agreement that has been reached. There’s been a consensus that we should take a look at a possible global settlement of [four] different pieces of litigation. We have a long road to travel to get there,” he said.

Those four lawsuits, he said, include yesterday’s as well as two separate nuisance claims against the town, one brought forward by the Andersens and another by his clients, who live near the wind turbines. The fourth lawsuit is an appeal of Barnstable Superior Court Judge Robert C. Rufo’s decision in June that Mr. Gore did not need a special permit from the appeals board to erect Wind 1, which became operational in March 2010.

In order to reach a final settlement, Mr. Duffy wrote in an email this morning that the neighbors will have to submit a list of proposed actions to the town that they believe will end all outstanding zoning and nuisance claims. That list will be discussed by selectmen once Town Meeting concludes next week.

Both parties will report on the status of negotiations to Judge Muse by Thursday, November 21.

“We are still at the very beginning stages,” Mr. Senie said. “Judge Muse did a great job to begin to shape a global settlement,” he said. “The town agreed to go back to the 12hour operational period from 7 AM to 7 PM and we appreciate that very much as an interim measure. We’re glad to have that while we have real discussions about a final and formal settlement.”

Whether an agreement can be reached, he was unsure, although he was pleased to see the direction negotiations are heading in. “I think we arrived at a new moment yesterday,” he said. “It is positive and constructive. I don’t know if it will prevail. We have an awful lot of people who have to agree on an awful lot of items. I’m not sure what will happen, but everyone is sincere about this.”

The Incredible Similarities between Wynne Power & Wind Power

Hockey Fight Wynne

1. They both have a total disregard for democracy.
2. They both garner acceptance through “favours”, or money.
3. They are both guilty of incredibly high levels of greed and waste.
4. They both brag about what they can do, but neither of them can prove any net benefit, for
their “efforts”.
5. They both travel in circles that are continually being accused of extreme corruption.
6. They are both fond of back room deals, deleted e-mails, lack of transparency, nondisclosure,
and secrets.
7. Neither of them do the job they were intended to do, but both are costing us far more than
they should be, even if they were producing at 100% capacity.
8. They are both treating the rural residents in Ontario, with utter disdain
9. They are both willing to cause physical harm to people, all the while denying it, to avoid
accountability.
10. They are both notorious for telling lie after lie, after lie.
11. They are both willing to destroy our environment, while pretending to “help” the global
warming “problem”.
12. They are both pushing the faux-green energy scam, based on the unproven theory, that
CO2 is responsible for global warming.
13. They are both in complete denial of the physical, psychological, financial, social, disaster,
that the wind scam has turned out to be.
14. They both point the finger of blame for the damage they are doing, at anyone but
themselves.
15. They are both willing to pay off one segment of the population (cities/towns), in order to
convince them, to turn a blind eye to the abuse of the other segment,(rural areas).
16. They both use climate fear mongering, to push their useless agendas.
17. They have both survived up till this point….because people can be gullible, and they have
taken the word of these wind pushers, without first doing their homework, and
researching the truth.
18. They are both heavily invested financially, in the windscam, and would hate to see it fail,
even if it bankrupts our province.
19. They are both bold and brash enough to push themselves onto the rural people and
communities that do NOT want them.
20. We need to run them both out of the province, before they run our economy into the
ground! SUPPORTERS OF WIND, ARE SUPPORTED BY WIND….always follow the
money trail.

Wynne, We Have Spoken and are NOT Willing Hosts!! 402 Protest Rally!

20131019-151831.jpg
As far as the eye could see…..over 30 kilometres of Tractors, Vans, Cars, Trailers and Pickups shutdown highway 402 delivering a message to Kathleen Wynne and her Turbines! It was raining and chilly….but that didn’t stop the Protestors who decked out their cars with messages including “Children Suffering” and “Ontario is a Dictatorship”.

People united from as far as the Niagara Region to Kindardine in a show of solidarity in the fight against this corrupt liberal government. Police were out in full force to ensure the protestors stayed in line. The procession took off right at 10am as planned and shut the highway down for over 3 hours! The Mothers Against Wind Turbines attended the rally in convoy, with Eagles, Bats and Turbines all decorating the vehicles.

At the end of the line, speakers came out and talked in the rain to the crowd of anti-wind warriors. Speakers included Esther Wrightman, MPP Lisa Thompson, MPP Lisa McLeod and Local Mayors; all of which focused on the truths of democracy, soaring energy poverty and human rights issues in Ontario. The only Liberal in attendance was some “lackey” who was of no significant importance. Talks concluded with a rendition of “Blowing in the wind” which the crowd all sang together.

Will Wynne listen, or will our message blow with the wind? Only time will tell….

Wind turbine impact on children questioned | Peterborough Examiner

Mothers Against Wind Turbines are at it again!! Way to go Ladies:)

MILLBROOK – Mothers Against Wind Turbines added their voice to the opposition against a proposed wind farm in the Bethany-Cavan area.

The group, formed by two mothers who have been waging fights against wind farm proposals in their own communities, spoke to a group of 25 people at the Cavan Monaghan Township municipal office Tuesday night.

Focused on the impact of wind turbines on children, the talk was part of a series of recent town hall meetings hosted by Deputy Mayor Scott McFadden and Coun. Tim Belch.

Shellie Correia, who lives in the town of Wellandport in Niagara Region, has been fighting the construction of a mega wind turbine project in her backyard.

Despite an opposition campaign that included meetings with the leaders of all three provincial political parties, Correia is faced with the real possibility that a 600-foot turbine will be built 550 metres from her home, where she lives with her 12-year-old son Joey, a boy with sensory processing issues.

Joey’s condition means he is sensitive to certain sounds that wouldn’t negatively affect other people. For example, Joey is extremely irritated by the sound of ripping Velcro.

The proposed wind farm that would feature more than 77 massive turbines near Correia’s home is in the final stages of Ministry of the Environment approval, she said.

She still has avenues for appeal, but she fears if the project gets a final go ahead, she’ll be forced out of her home.

“I think it’s going to be devastating, that’s why I’m fighting so hard,” she said. “If my son is suffering … there is no way I could stay there and force him to endure that.”

Linda Rogers, the other half of Mothers Against Wind Turbines, is facing the imminent enclosure of her home and farm by wind development in Haldimand County on Lake Eerie.

She says her nine-year-old son William is especially vulnerable to wind turbine disruptions due to his congenital and medical conditions.

“Noise intrusion will definitely impact on his ability to function,” she said.

Rogers, a nurse practitioner, has been fighting proposed wind farms in her area for years. Despite her protests, a farm with 16 wind turbines two kilometres away from her home was recently green-lighted.

She joined Correia Tuesday as they discussed their experiences.

McFadden said he will continue to host the town hall meetings on the dangers of wind turbines to keep the issue in the spotlight.

“A lot of new faces are coming out and word is spreading. It’s keeping it in the forefront,” he said.

M.K. Ince and Associates Ltd. proposes to build five large wind turbines on the west side of Cavan Monaghan Township, north of Bethany near Devil’s Elbow Ski Area.

The company is hosting a public meeting about the project Nov. 5, running from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. at Rolling Hills Public School west of Bethany in Manvers.
