It was wonderful to work with the Wainfleet Ratepayers Association – really great people.

unnamedWe are all working together to protect our communities and safe guard all impacted residents.

Funds raised are being equally split between MAWT Inc  and Burnaby Skydive  Legal funds associated with the wind battles.

unnamed (7)Each dollar received and raised is accounted for and will be used 100% for these issues.

Many, many volunteers have spent countless hours and gone above and beyond, to support this to make this event a success.

Working together we are stronger and are a force to reckond with.

Through the ticket sales, we were able to educate a lot of people as a bonus.   We now have many more Wind Warriors at the ready!!

Although we think everyone who bought a ticket, made a donation or simply took the time to come by the booths to talk to us are winners, below are the official First, Second and Third Place Raffle ticket winners, whom all received a hefty monetary prize.

Blown over: Residents rejoice as wind turbine battle comes to a conclusion

By KATE DAY SAGER   Era Reporter  September 10, 2014

ALLEGANY, N.Y. — Close to eight years of legal battles, community upsets and neighbors bickering with neighbors over a proposed 29-wind-turbine farm project in the town of Allegany came to an end on Tuesday.

The final nail in the coffin of the proposed EverPower Wind LLC farm in the communities of Chipmonk and Knapp Creek was hammered when the Allegany Town Board unanimously voted to rescind the wind overlay district.

“It’s been a long time coming and I’m glad this is over,” said Chipmonk resident Karen Mosman after the meeting. “But I’m in shock, is it real?”  Read rest of the article here.

Yard Sale Ready for Tomorrow and A visit by a Very Special Lady.

While the Mothers (and the guys) were busy setting up for Tomorrows Yard Sale we were visited by a very special woman whom most have heard about or have heard speak.

10430920_607447802709849_2650086089010286948_nStephana Johnston has lived beside a wind farm near Lake Erie since 2010.  She dropped by the Mothers Against Wind Turbines Inc.  to show her support by dropping off a van FULL of items for our Yard Sale, Sept 6.

And she bought some Raffle tickets as well!!  Good Luck, Stephana!!

10653802_607447819376514_8029953276855539632_nWe spoke with her and sadly she told how her health continues to slowly get worse.  How she is having difficulty keeping her sugars at good levels,  because her stress level is so high all the time having to live in her house.

She did however comment on how good she was feeling while chatting to us, mainly because it had been a bit more than 2 hours since she had left her house to come visit us.

This is an 85 year old who instead of enjoying her retirement travels to other communities to speak to rooms full of people about how the turbines have stolen her peace, her health, her home.

She tells residents that from inside her home, the neighbouring wind turbines sound like a Boeing 747 jumbo jet flying overhead

“It never goes away,” she said. “I can’t sleep with that going on.”

…AND then she travels two hours to contribute to  West Lincoln’s Fight against the NRWC project because she thinks it’s worth fighting for and doesn’t want what happened, is happening, to her to happen to you or your family!!

Hope you will think it’s worth fighting for too.  See you tomorrow. 🙂

Time to have your well water tested prior to wind plant construction.

It is best to have your well water tested “before” any construction starts if you are any where near where a turbine is to be erected.  With potential blasting, digging etc. comes a potential that your well water will be affected.  When it comes to dealing with wind projects it is imperative that the public documents everything.  Without documentation there will be NO hope of proving that the project was/or could of been a contributing factor to the change in your well water.  WE must use the “precautionary principle” even if our Government and Wind Companies choose not to.

If you have lived for years at your current address and rely on your well then it is highly recommended that you get the testing done in the unfortunate instance that near by construction does have an effect, either disrupts the flow to your well or the water becomes un drinkable, other wise it will be difficult to prove that the construction its self may have been a contributing factor.

If EVERYONE gets their water tested PRIOR to wind plant construction and issues arise, all of those in an area could join forces, with documentation in hand making  it difficult for the courts to not take you seriously.

Remember to also get a COMPLETE Physical, blood tests, blood pressure, hearing….everything checked BEFORE the turbines start turning.  As with the Water Well testing these documents may be of great value later in the courts if needed.

Time to Turn the Tables on Wind Proponents who Accuse Opponents of ‘Nimbyism’.

Donna Quixote's avatarQuixotes Last Stand

It’s astounding to read these days how pleased with themselves liberals are that the Wynne Ont gov’t is remaining steadfast in their refusal to amend the Green Energy Act in any meaningful way. It’s as easy as water off a ducks back for these progressives to delight in calling opponents to Industrial Wind Turbines as NIMBY’s and having democracy essentially waived to accomplish the policy goals backed by the GEA.

I only have this to say;

I want all these cheering Liberals to consider this;

Take your worst nightmare of a conservative leader. An amalgam of the very worst of Harper. Harris, throw in a little Ralph Klein and some Tea Party Timmy Hudak. I can sense your blood pressure rising as I write this. Oh the horror.
In the Legislature, a new bill is to be introduced called the “Nuclear Waste Recovery Act”

It will allow land owners to…

Wind farms: Are they a good thing?

Sophia, 7, wrote during school.

“You may think wind turbines are good but when you have 50 by your home…you can’t sleep in your own room and you try to sleep but you can’t because of the wind turbines (noise). I had to move into a mobile home because my mom, dad and brother plus me couldn’t sleep.”

What do you think?

sophia1Phil Hartke predicts that in 10 years, the public will see advertisements from law firms offering representation for people to receive compensation for ill health effects from wind turbines.

The past president of the Illinois Farm Bureau in Effingham County spoke at the Rural Coonhunters Club in rural Greenwich to a group opposed to the construction of wind turbines in the area.

Hartke spoke to more than 100 people over two days at an event hosted by Greenwich Neighbors United.

The global wind energy development company Windlab’s has applied to construct a windpark that would cover about 4,650 acres of privately leased land. It would include 25 wind turbines with a total generating capacity of up to 60 megawatts of electricity.

Final decision on the project’s status rests with the Ohio Power Siting Board, a separate entity within the Public Utilities Commission of Ohio.

The board’s next meeting is Aug. 25, and the matter may come up for a vote.

While Hartke wouldn’t be affected by the project, he spoke about his and his family’s own experience with wind turbines.

A 495-foot tall, 1.6 mW turbine sits 1,665 feet away from his home.

He handed out a packet, which includes a drawing and paragraph his daughter, Sophia, 7, wrote during school.

“You may think wind turbines are good but when you have 50 by your home…yousophia2 can’t sleep in your own room and you try to sleep but you can’t because of the wind turbines (noise). I had to move into a mobile home because my mom, dad and brother plus me couldn’t sleep.”

Said her father: “Our enjoyment of the backyard, garden, outbuildings, treehouse and creekbed has been taken away and replaced with nausea, headaches, irritability and stress.”

Hartke compared the noise to a diesel truck parked outside one’s bedroom, with the sound increasing as each blade rotating.

“I don’t think kids should have to put earmuffs on to sleep,” Hartke said.

Sixty Residents fighting for their Quality of Life.

This is a lawsuit to keep an eye on.  It’s being heard in their State Supreme Court.

Sixty residents from Orangeville and Attica have filed lawsuits claiming that the Stony Creek Wind Farm is ruining their quality of life, destroyed property values, and is affecting their health because of noise and vibration.

CaptureAttorney Richard Lippes, who handled the Love Canal lawsuits, is representing the angry residents.

Lippes said the basis of the lawsuit claims the wind turbines were erected too close to residential homes and are now causing “adverse effects.”

The lawsuits were filed in State Supreme Court in Wyoming County and they also seek restrictions on operation of the wind turbines.

The Orangeville wind farm contains 58 wind turbines and was constructed in 2013 by Invenergy – which is the sole defendant in the lawsuits.

Invenergy issued the following statement in response:

About the Orangeville wind farm

As a clean energy leader, Invenergy is committed to successful, enduring partnerships with the communities in which our projects are located. We are grateful for the broad support we’ve received in Western New York and continue to receive from members of the community.

While support for renewable energy is strong across our country, we take seriously any concerns of those who live in a project host community. That is why we took great care in developing the Orangeville wind farm in accordance with all local, state, and federal laws and regulations. The lengthy authorization process was open and inclusive, allowing extensive opportunity for citizen input.

In addition, since the Orangeville wind farm commenced commercial operation, the facility has been operated and maintained in accordance with all applicable laws and regulations, including local zoning laws, relevant state agency directives, and Federal Aviation Administration (“FAA”) requirements.

About Wind Turbine Sound and Health

Numerous studies – conducted in countries all over the world – have found no evidence to support a link between sound emitted from wind turbines and adverse health effects.

About Wind Turbines and Property Values A 2013 comprehensive report by the U.S. Department of Energy’s Lawrence Berkeley National Laboratory studied wind turbines and home values. In analyzing more than 50,000 home sales near 67 wind farms in nine states, researchers were “unable to uncover any impacts to nearby home property values.”

About Petitioners’ Motions

The Orangeville wind farm will vigorously defend itself against the unfounded claims set forth in these complaints
