Europe’s industry is being ravaged by exorbitant energy costs and an over-valued euro, blighting efforts to reverse years of global manufacturing decline.

Fears for child safety after wind blows turbine blade 60 yards

Fears over children’s safety have been raised after the blade of a wind turbine similar to ones installed at Highland schools was thrown 60 yards by wind.

The turbine in Caithness started to break up as it was hit by a gust, and parents believe that pupils could be seriously injured, or even killed, if the incident is repeated at one of the 13 primary and secondary schools across the region that have their own turbines.

Brenda Herrick, the chairwoman of Castletown community council, has a grandson at Castletown Primary in Thurso.  She said yesterday that she was worried in case a blade from the turbine at the school hit one of the children.

Notice lately how every article in any of the major news media (including The Toronto SUN!!) about Kathleen Wynne include a picture of her striking the ‘messiah’ pose?  Coincidental?  Or a subliminal message trying to convince us that only SHE can save Ontario from the destruction wrought by the former Premier, Dalton McGuinty?

Is this a cleverly staged ploy by the Liberal Party of Ontario?  I have a hard time believing this is pure coincidence.  More likely, Wynne’s handlers have advised her to strike this pose every time she speaks.  But why does the media insist on using these particular pictures?  There are others available.  I’ve seen them.

Pity the poor Warmists!

Perhaps one of the least pleasant remarks one can hear is “I told you so!”

Yet if one has been in a tiny minority, the object of ridicule and opprobrium, for years, one is surely entitled to a small frisson of satisfaction when the orthodoxy which one has opposed for ages starts to fall apart.  Which is where we are now with the climate debate.

IESO’s Renewable Integration Amendments
On January 3, 2013, Ontario’s Independent Electricity System Operator (“IESO”) published amendments to the Market Rules that authorize the IESO to dispatch certain renewable generators in Ontario. Dispatch means to turn on and off as electricity demand from consumers or ‘the grid’ requires. The Ontario Power Authority (“OPA”) is currently re-negotiating (now completed, Sept 2013) approximately 50 power purchase agreements (PPA) with certain affected renewable generators. At present, the OPA’s proposed compensation model is to compensate these renewable generators for any curtailment above specified contractual caps.
